Over four weeks, you’ll engage live with Peter Simmons through our interactive online filmmaking course, complete weekly assignments, and receive personalized guidance to transition from 'dreaming' to 'doing.'
The goal is clear: to help you establish a defined path, build a compelling portfolio, and start earning money doing what you love. Whether you seek a job, aim to become a freelancer, or attract sponsors and investors, your film career lab experience starts here.
What you will learn.
Week 1 — Identity & Direction
In our creative career mentorship program, you'll define your creative identity, discover your strengths, clarify your goals, and choose a direction that aligns with your brain and life. As part of the film career lab, you'll also learn how to present yourself effectively and begin building your network. This serves as the foundation for your 90-day action plan, which is further enhanced by our online filmmaking course.
Week 2 — Where to look? How to find the jobs and pathway.
In this online filmmaking course, you’ll learn how to create genuine win-win situations with clients, collaborators, and casting directors. You’ll discover where real opportunities lie—how to find them, reach the right people, and stand out in your creative career mentorship. You'll refine or build your portfolio, understand what to create and how to present it, and begin assembling the pieces that clearly demonstrate your talent. By the end of the week, you’ll have the initial steps of your 90-day roadmap taking shape.
Week 3 — Getting Work & Making Money
Building on everything you’ve learned so far in this online filmmaking course, you’ll explore the real steps to getting paid work, clients, or sponsors in your creative career mentorship. You’ll learn who to approach, how to make your first pitches, and how to land your first paid jobs or opportunities with confidence. You’ll continue shaping your 90‑day plan while beginning to map out your 1‑year and 5‑year goals, and we’ll create a simple accountability system to help you stay consistent and supported as you grow through the film career lab.
Week 4 — Your 90 Day Career Plan
You’ll finalize your 90-day roadmap, shape a long-term plan, and learn how to stay flexible, creative, and consistent as your career grows within the creative career mentorship framework. We’ll create a custom plan tailored to your goals, strengths, and preferred path in the film career lab, giving you a clear direction for the next 3 months, 1 year, and beyond. You’ll leave with a confident path forward and an invitation to join the advanced community for continued support, alongside access to our comprehensive online filmmaking course.

How it works - Welcome to The Film & Media Career Lab
You’ll meet live with Peter Simmons for a 1‑hour class each week in our online filmmaking course, where you’ll learn the next steps in building your creative career mentorship. After each session, you’ll complete a weekly homework assignment designed to move you forward in small, achievable steps. Throughout the film career lab program, you’ll have email support for questions and the option to send 1‑minute video submissions for personalized feedback. Everything takes place in a supportive, neurodivergent‑friendly environment built to help you stay focused, confident, and creatively engaged.

About Peter Simmons
Peter Simmons is a filmmaker, teacher, and creative mentor with over 40 years of experience in film, television, media production, and creative entrepreneurship. His work encompasses award-winning films, national advertising campaigns, educational media, and collaborations with leaders across entertainment, business, and public service. He has sold and produced more than $10 million in projects and successfully raised funding for both a television pilot and a motion picture.
Peter has directed and produced work for organizations such as IBM, Discovery Channel, major financial institutions, international travel companies, and nonprofits across the U.S. and abroad. His creative journey includes behind-the-scenes work on a short film featuring President Barack Obama and Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as collaborations with Kevin Harrington of Shark Tank.
As the founder of MrSimmonsTV, Peter offers creative career mentorship to help people around the world build income and sustainable careers through film, video, travel, wellness, and the creative arts. His teaching style is intuitive, warm, and improvisational, providing students with the structure, encouragement, and clear direction they need to grow. He also runs a film career lab and an online filmmaking course designed to empower aspiring filmmakers.
